100 decibels is enough to cover your ears in pain; 1000 decibels is enough to create a black hole; 1000000 decibels would be enough to cause a second big bang.

Not to compare my blog to a cosmic event, of course, but outlandish pseudonyms aside - 1MillionDecibels is my own revelation.

I've always had a passion for music just as much as I've had a passion for journalism, so what to do? The answer seems obvious. Unfortunately, it took me 17 years to figure it out, but 1MillionDecibels is the definitive answer to that question.

1MillionDecibels is impact focused: the music will always come second to the cultural significance or the artist's story. I could legitimize myself with my many years of musical experience, but frankly, musical appreciation is not about theory - it's about curiosity and adventure.

That is the purpose of 1MillionDecibels: to inspire curiosity in my readers. I want to bring intrigue, love, tragedy, and humor to the stories behind my favorite artists and albums. I want to ask questions and compel readers to do their own research and come to their own conclusions.

1MillionDecibels may be a music blog, but I hope to leave readers with far more knowledge than the music itself. Even I believe it is decidedly superior to listen to music than it is to read about it, 1MillionDecibels tackles this by not focusing on the notes of a scale, but instead on who's playing them.

Read, listen, explore; I look forward to sharing this journey with you - and let me know what you think!
